What, they finally got around to updating their stereo after about 10 years?

While NVIDIA was not giving a damn about stereoscopic 3d, plenty of other solutions have popped up. Right now I'm using the IZ3D monitor (running under Vista 64), which supports any game that uses DirectX 8 or up (how well a particular game runs on it is a different story). Probably the best product to use in terms of the actual 3d effect is a Head Mounted Display, although generally not so much in terms of comfort and resolution. TDVision is (supposedly) releasing a high definition version of their TDVisor soon.

The most promising technology I have seen thus far though is Microvision's.

> dm or something perhaps tops then it extends in
> the rest. Depends on how big screen you got. I got
> a fresnel lens and then I had to lower the
> stereo3d quite a bit to compensate. To much
> separation is not good for your eyes ;).
>
> I am very sceptical to stereo3d on LCDs though
> since they donīt have any refresh rate are just on
> or off. You actually donīt need nvidias drivers
> for this. I donīt remember itīs name and donīt
> have a linke but there is some other drivers that
> works with colours... I guess you have seen those
> glasses you get while watching imax movies and
> such. Problem it has is that it messes up the
> colours a bit but it does work otherwise.
>
> nVidia behind it they may get more driver support
> of course so will see but I am not to hyped about
> this. Still suspect it will be inferior to their
> old CRT solution.

Inferior! Nvidia drivers were top notch. I used to the game with them and the depth was phenomenal. They wouldn't pop out of the screen but your screen was like this great big hole where the world seems to go on for infinity. It was amazing. Later Nvidia to stop work on the drivers and went internal for a few years. Now they have come out with these new drivers, in the links I provided the new tech demonstrated at some show and the writer of the article said he saw cars flying out of the screen in GRID which was amazing. I am sure this new version is going to be totally incredible the whole new way to experience games.

So now guys this is what we need

Novint falcon + pistol grip
Track IR 4 Pro
TN Games 3rd space gaming vest and helmet
Nvidia stereo 3d vision
and loads of games

Totally sweet!

> actually if you do a bit of research like I have
> you will find that the monitor needed for this
> with the 3d glasses, drivers and emitter will cost
> under $1000
>
> It's been designed for vista 32 bit only at this
> time
>
> It will have support for SLI out of the box
>
> You need a 8800GT and above for stereo 3d
>
> Games are only the beginning, at some point in the
> future 3d movies will follow
>
> Mistibush has a 78 inch dlp TV compatible with
> this Nvidia tech and viewsonic are bringing out
> their 22 inch monitor which has a 120hz 1680 x
> 1050 native refresh rate.
>
> It's compatible with LCD and DLP TV's, i believe
> projectors as well but have to check that. No
> pricing is available yet, they just believe the
> package will be under $1000
