Team Fortress 2 and aiming

Hi, I was reading a post by WornOak and that got me a little interested in looking into the concept of muscle memory. I happened to find this article which talks about aiming in counterstrike, but applies to team fortress as well. Its a long read, but an interesting one.

I think one of the biggest problems with the falcon in tf2 isn't any actual limitation of the falcon itself, but simply the amount of time that it takes to get decent with it(or so I hope, as I keep telling myself that aiming with the falcon will eventually be easy). Using the repetition techniques in here, it may be possible to quickly get up to speed and aim well with the falcon sooner.

I also happened to find a map that has a muscle memory training spot.

I'm going to try to get in the habit of spending 5 mins on this before playing tf2, and I'll see if it helps at all. smiling smiley My first attempt at this at least showed me how badly I am at quickly aiming at an exact location with the falcon.

Anyway, I hope someone else finds this interesting/helpful.

Thanks Levi - I hadn't found any tf2 maps for this, and was waiting for cs:s mainly for this reason, so this is a good find. I'd read the article you mentioned earlier, but had forgotten about it by the time I posted that other link. But it's a good solid discussion of the rationale behind muscle memory training, and I'd highly recommend others take a look too.

I think I'm now at the point where I'm just as good with the falcon as with the mouse - but that still leaves quite a bit of room for improvement. I think sometimes I subconsciously line up the top of the crosshairs rather than the middle.

I'll give this a try too as soon as I get a chance, and see what comes of it.

Thanks,

I'm totally going to try this out, I pretty much completely suck with the falcon in tf2(and most everything else) so i'm looking for ways to be better with it

WornOak, you mean you line up the tippy top of your crosshair? Try changing it to the dot crosshair, that's what I use and I don't have that problem.

Good idea, I'll try that out too.

Heh, my eyesight is kinda bad so I use the maximum size dot crosshair(red).
